CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
The environment has a large impact on the understanding of students. Friendly environments with content related material surrounding the room, colours conducive to a learning environment and the provision of appropriate materials, make a positive difference to student learning. Negative environments, such as those deficient in helpful materials, with uncomfortable seating, and dull colours tend to result in a negative learning response.
For example, a study by Ramli et al (2013 p. 221) looked at both teacher, and student perceptions of the classroom environment including lighting, temperature, available space, and other environmental classroom factors. The findings suggested that both teachers and students felt that poor lighting, cold/hot temperatures, lack of interior variety, and restricted outside view tended to have a negative impact on teaching, and student learning.
